Chose to travel here from Plymouth to have total hip replacement surgery.Much shorter waiting list than Plymouth hospitals. Shepton Mallet Treatment Centre also score outstanding in all categories.They allowed me to be admmited the night before surgery to save an extra trip up for a pre surgery blood test.I was on a 2 bed ward with ensuite bathroom and a beautiful veiw of the surrounding countryside. You will need sat nav to find it though! as its tucked away behind a residential housing area. Its about 2 hour trip back to Plymouth and the trip back home was a little uncomfortable, but the very short waiting list for hip replacement surgery far outways this!Thank you to all the wonderful staff who looked after me.
My husband had a knee replacement and we were so impressed with everything, from the initial consultation, the short waiting list, the staff and the operation. Would recommend this hospital to everyone.
I visited two weeks ago with a broken finger. Considering how busy it was, I was seen relatively quickly. The initial experience appeared great (apart from the injury obviously!) Staff were all friendly and seemed efficient. I returned for an appointment at the fracture clinic today. Thats where it all went downhill. Although staff were friendly, I was called into see the specialist over half an hour later than the appointment time and it was extremely brief. The reception staff had my appointment written down in front of them (I saw it with my own eyes), but the doctor had me down on his list for a different time completely and for a different kind of appointment. There appeared to be a complete lack of organisation there and I was only seen because I got up from my seat and asked what was going on when it was evident they had completely forgotten about me. In the consulting room, there were students observing, I was not asked if I was comfortable with this. Also, apparently I was given the wrong sized finger splint at my original appointment (the one fitted was too big), which may have contributed to a longer recovery time. So, overall a friendly experience but one that lacked basic organisation.
My wife had a total knee replacement 3 weeks ago at this wonderful hospital. We both thank all the staff for the amazing treatment and care she received from the minute we entered the reception to the time to go home., so thank you once again and keep up the good work, you are part of a very special team.
